Estaleiro is a project of training and cultural programming developed by Curtas Metragens, CRL, who organizes, for nearly two decades, the Curtas Vila do Conde - International Film Festival, one of the most remarkable events of the Portuguese cultural scene.

Estaleiro is divided into three main programs: ANIMAR, CAMPUS and CINEMA EXPANDIDO which are complementary from a training offer (which ranges from pre-school to higher education) to an artistic program that combines exhibitions with film screenings (many of them with the results of the training).

There is a fourth great event: CONCERTS AT ESTALEIRO, which are the celebration of the project. With a monthly basis, several national and international bands will perform live.

Estaleiro is a project made in Vila do Conde and aims to involve the city at the forefront of cultural dynamics in the northern region. Teatro Municipal de Vila do Conde is the cultural facility that will be the project’s anchor. Working as a platform, Estaleiro will involve authors, students of various education levels and the general public.

Estaleiro begins in January 2011 and will last for 20 MONTHS conducting 20 WORKSHOPS, 20 CONCERTS and producing 20 FILMS. Its structuring philosophy is: to sensitize a new generation of audiences; to train skilled professionals for the audiovisual; and to celebrate the cultural life through remarkable events and allowing an unprecedented crossover of film, music and visual arts.

Estaleiro is supported by the QREN/ Programa Novo Norte and by the Municipality of Vila do Conde.
